A Lion Among Men - Gregory Maguire

This is the third book in Maguire's re-imagining of Oz, following on from Wicked (currently playing in the West End) and Son of a Witch. It continues the story of Elphaba's legacy, this time through the Cowardly Lion, Brrr, who has been sent to find Yackle, a character from the previous books, and uncover more of the story of the Wicked Witch of the West. In the process Brrr relives his own past and his role in Elphaba's untimely demise, as well as unlocking the part of his past he doesn't seem to remember. Characters from the previous books pop up, and there is clearly going to be at least one more book if not more, as the story is left with lots of loose ends that need tying up. I would suggest reading the previous titles first or this book just won't make a whole lot of sense.
