The Tenderness of Wolves - Stef Penney
Set in Canada in 1867, this book is a sort of murder mystery that takes place in the middle of winter. A man is found murdered in his cabin and the chief suspect is the narrator's missing son. The plot takes us deep into the wilderness, to the various communties attempting to survive, far from civilisation. I quite enjoyed this one, I liked the mystery aspect and the way the narrative unfolded. It's not something I would necessarily re-read, now I know what happens, unlike some stories I don't think it holds up to repeat reads. But I would recommend it if you enjoy historical fiction or crime mysteries.
